API Training’s Business Process Management for Business Analysis program addresses the essential skills a Business Analyst needs to understand the Business and the methods utilized in software development to create business solutions.
In the Business Analyst Book of Knowledge™, The International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA™) defines Business Analysis as, “The set of tasks and techniques used to work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies, and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals.”
Having gained an understanding of the role and basic expectations of the Business Analysts position in the Tier One learning path, participants in Business Process Management for Business Analysis phase of training are presented with topics that will enrich their knowledge of conducting business analysis. In this tier of course offerings, BA’s will gain an understanding of analysis modeling techniques such as:
- Business Modeling: Business modeling is a set of required techniques for Business Analysis. Business modeling is a set of activities whose goal is to help visualize and understand business processes. As applied to software systems or any other system, business models act as a blueprint for construction. In effect, the model becomes an operational description of the business that can illuminate value/cost tradeoffs, priorities, and risks. This level of understanding is frequently essential in assisting product development teams to make informed decisions about the processes they are automating and the technologies most appropriate for implementing them:
- Business Rules: Business Rule Concepts, Discovery, Management and Implementation
Within these Business Analysis course offerings, participants will use modeling notations such as UML and BPMN to reflect the Business Model as well as the Business Process. Building upon the Introduction to Projects discussed in the foundation class, Introduction to Business Analyst, the following course offerings in the Business Process Management for Business Analysis will expand the participant’s knowledge of the “business technical” aspect to creating software solutions:
- OOA/D for the Business Analyst: Introduction to Object Oriented Methodology and the Unified Modeling Language (UML) and the diagrams useful to the Business Analysts
- The role of the Business Analysts in Agile Development: Explores the changing role and participation of the Business Analysts in Agile development projects
